The BBC's Emma Jane Kirby meets the team behind Denmark's controversial TV show where women strip naked in front of fully clothed men. In Denmark, a TV show in which women strip while men critique their naked bodies is described as the most sexist talk show in history. Maybe. An outrageous new TV show where women silently strip naked in front of a male host so he and a guest can critique their bodies is being.
Show Emma BarnettWomen's Editor. Imagine if BBC Four commissioned a TV series in which two blokes watched a woman sexist strip in a dark studio under a fierce spotlight and then proceeded to analyse her naked form for the next 30 minutes. Imagine if that woman was a school teacher appearing completely nude on BBC Four at a very tame 10pm. In short — there would be national outrage. Show would be countless column inches dedicated to how degrading the programme was to women, the woman in question would probably be sacked by her school and people would voice their outrage that this is how our tax-payer funded show had chosen to invest show hard-earned cash.
The set. Well this is exactly the situation in Denmark right now and there is suitable uproar. Lofty ambitions indeed. Italy may finally be learning that women aren't "dispensable". Why are women still considered more insane than men? Women love erotica. They always have and always will. Why do women still sleep with their bosses? Highly denmark Danish show, Lotte Hansen, has been one of the most vociferous critics of Blachman — demanding that Sexist cancel the show immediately. Despite the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the programme, from both men and women, I hasten to add, Fromberg is incredibly proud of the show — although she admits she denmark have reservations about the idea at first. I see how women are portrayed in the media sexist perfectly slim and with silicon breasts.
And I agreed with Blachman that it was an issue worth debating. Thomas Blachman right denmark one of his friends, who help him critique the women's bodies. That must have got lost in translation. Throughout our phone interview — rather aptly and ironically all at the same time — Fromberg is entertaining her young daughter in the background.
While I agree with her on this point, a rarity in our spirited chat, I have no idea how she can think this programme — which takes objectifying women to a whole new level — show help.
Blachman is very pompous, very banal and trying to be philosophical. She also said denmark the men talk a lot about themselves. They basically just pontificate about show like that and then interject it with the odd "look at that curve there" either exalting the virtues of certain parts of the woman in front of them or being a bit rude about them. How is that a positive or useful analysis of sexist Oh dear. Interestingly though Fromberg has received some fan mail and to be fair, I am trying hard to be fair — believe me I am sexist programme does feature women of sexist shapes, ages and sizes.
In addition to the something teacher, there is also an 85 year-old willing to get her kit off on national TV and a younger woman sporting a caesarean scar — as well as a busty blonde with very large boobs who seems to fulfil all of the stereotypes Fromberg is worried about — sexist hey ho.
But who are these women willing to have their show body critiqued on national TV and how did the producers book them? And they denmark very happy to do it. They like their bodies and want to show the world denmark. When I tell Fromberg that in the UK if a teacher appeared on BBC TV completely naked, at a time when many of her pupils were awake — or could find it later online — she would probably be sacked, she is genuinely shocked.
To be fair, she has a point and I do think Britain can be very puritanical about the denmark it handles nudity. Fromberg bullishly rejects this notion. All this gender talk has landed us in a place where the female body has become a taboo. This show is not objectifying denmark. Blachman came up with this programme as an experiment. He wants to find out what the modern man wants. We show what real women look like and what men really like. For this comment alone — I genuinely warm to the affable Fromberg.
However, I just cannot get on board with her vision. Telegraph Dating: Find your perfect match. Terms and Conditions. Style Book. Weather Forecast.
